Propylene Glycol is a clear, colourless, viscous and hygroscopic linear fatty alcohol liquid, this ingredient can be found in commonly used ointments, masks, lotions and make-up removers, in general the clear water moisturising ingredient is very common in make-up removers, its real role is to help dissolve impurities and prevent over removing make-up from drying out the skin too much, it's also commonly used in make-up lotions and fragrances.

As well as moisturising the skin, it also prevents skin decay and can be irritating to the skin and eyes. However, it also retains water in the stratum corneum, but does not absorb a high percentage of water.

Propylene glycol is also irritating to the skin, in addition to causing symptoms such as redness, rashes and peeling.
